The course aims to help you develop your effectiveness at work and in personal relationships by focusing on developing your assertiveness skills. You will have the opportunity to identify and work on issues related to assertiveness and stammering.

About this course

- describe the key characteristics of assertive behaviour
- identify core assertive skills and practise these in a range of situations
- draw on strategies to help you make requests
- draw on strategies to help you say no
- draw on strategies to help you give and receive feedback and compliments
- draw on strategies to help you say what you feel and be honest
- identify an action plan for the future.

A variety of teaching methods will be used including: discussion, working in pairs/small groups, self exploration, demonstration, video feedback and practical exercises/role play. Handouts will be provided.

Additional information

You can do a Stage 1 evening course or one of our intensive courses if you haven't attended one previously. Alternatively you can do any of our Stage 2 courses including topic-based workshops.
