Course Description
The course aims to equip candidates with the skills and the knowledge to be employed as an assessor. In a series of 6 x ½ day workshops, you will learn to understand the policies and processes involved in assessment. After four workshops,you will be attached to a mentor/assessor to gather evidence for the award. The duration of the course will depend on the candidate's access to learners suitable for assessment. It is anticipated that evidence gathering may take 12 - 16 weeks.

Modules Studied:
- Agree and review plans for assessing candidates performance
- Develop plans with candidate for assessing competence
- Judge evidence against criteria to make assessment decisions
- Provide feedback and support to candidates and assessment decisions
- Contribute to the internal quality assurance process

Assessment: You will be assessed through observation, professional discussion and a portfolio. Portfolio workshops are incorporated in the course. You will gain the ability to assess learners using a range of methods.
