Students should have a good standard of literacy and numeracy and normally should possess 5 GCSEs at grade C or above, two of which must be English and Maths. The GNVQ Intermediate Award with evidence of good numeracy skills would be appropriate.

Study Method:
The AAT qualification is combined with a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) award at Levels 2, 3 and 4 thus furthering its overall value. The AAT qualification not only provides status and recognition for the technician role, but also gives accounting technicians a route to qualification with Chartered Professional Accountancy bodies.

Assessment:
All stages are assessed by a combination of internal Skills Test and external (central) tests which the successful candidate must pass.
Foundation (NVQ Level 2)
Intermediate (NVQ Level 3)
1 central assessment - 7 skills test (Foundation)
2 central assessments + 3 skills test (Intermediate)
Course Leads To:
After completion of the Foundation, Intermediate and Technician levels, you will be a part qualified accountant.
These qualifications can be used to obtain exemptions from CIMA, ACCA and CIPFA examinations.
