In the weekly classes, you will cover 5 sections:

To gain the Award, you must complete a portfolio which addresses all five key areas and which is based around planning, delivering and evaluating a microteach. You will work on this throughout the course and will submit it either at the end of the course or very shortly afterwards (final date to be agreed once the course has started). The final length will typically be around 3000 words. The assignment will be word-processed, and you will need to submit an electronic and a paper copy. It will also include an individual learning plan (ILP). The template for this will be provided.

Progression on to the Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Level 4), if there is sufficient interest. Alternatively, to gain the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Level 5), candidates will apply to join the Certificate in Education course in the following September. This is a two-year course and requires trainees to be in a teaching post.

Candidates will need to identify the occupational/teaching/training area they wish to deliver at the start of the course. Candidates need to record an initial assessment of their needs, to ensure that they have the appropriate level of experience to begin their course of study. This will normally take place at interview or at the beginning of the course.
