Course Description
All College First courses include Vocational studies, English, Maths and IT. You may be involved in additional activities, ie visits and trips. You will join an induction to help you settle and it may be possible to take more than one vocational option.Learners will experience a wide range of workshop practical activities, together with interesting classroom study sessions. Practical work will involve working on a range of motor vehicles and training rigs, using a variety of tools and equipment.
Entry Requirements
GCSEs: At least 4 GCSEs at Grade E one of which must be English. (Maths required for some subjects)

- Basic Routine Maintenance
- Foundation Skills for Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
- Light Vehicle Construction and Routine Maintenance
- Operating Principles of Light Vehicle Engines
- Operating Principles and Maintenance of Light Vehicle Transmission Systems
- Operating Principles and Maintenance of Light Vehicle Electrical and Electronic Systems
- Operating Principles of Light Vehicle Tyres, Brakes, Steering and Suspension Systems

Attendance Modes: Day
Assessment: A range of methods will be used, including phase tests, practical assessment, external tests and production of a portfolio of work.
Progression Routes: You can continue your studies on to a vocational course at Level 2, or choose to pursue employment in the vehicle repair or production industry. Successful completion of the level 1 course provides the ideal foundation for further study at levels 2 and 3.
