Course Content Year one

If you have a Foundation degree or equivalent, you may go directly to year two. If not, you will study these units:

  • Reflective Review: reflect on your personal learning development and locate your personal professional practice within the context of current national education and training polices.
  • Introduction to Literature Enquiry: explore the selection and analysis of source material and how it is used to inform thinking and scholarship.
  • Psychology in Education and Training: study the processes of applying psychological principles of learning in your professional practice.
Year two
  • Developing and Extending Young Children’s Thinking for Learning
  • Developing Professional Practice
  • Education, Society and The Curriculum
  • Global Perspectives on Education
  • Promoting Early Learning (0-3)
  • Research Methods and Dissertation Proposal
Year three
  • Global Perspectives on Education: review the issues associated with changing and developing aspects of international influence on pedagogy, policy and practice.
  • Dissertation: this is your opportunity to investigate an area of personal interest in the fields of education, training or administration. You will agree with your tutor the area you wish to investigate in your dissertation proposal. The focus of this unit is on the investigation and production of a small scale research project (10,000 words).
