Course Content

This is a four year course. The first year will be spent studying at Oxford Brookes, the second year studying at OTH Regensburg, the third year on compulsory placement at BMW Plant Regensburg and MINI Plant Oxford, and the fourth and final year studying at Oxford Brookes.

In Year 1 at Oxford Brookes University, you will learn about business and automotive management, focusing on the international environment and the application of theory to practice. You will also take a German language module. During the first year you will work with your tutors to identify areas of learning where you need particular support.

In Year 2, you will focus on acquiring the subject knowledge and developing your ability to learn autonomously. This element of the course taught is spent at OTH Regensburg in Germany and will be delivered in English.

Year 3 is a compulsory work placement year. You will spend six months working at BMW Plant Regensburg followed by six months working at MINI Plant Oxford.

Your final year will be based at Oxford Brookes University. You will be able to integrate, apply, extend and critique the knowledge you have gained, using a self-directed approach - preparing you for employment across a range of functions in the automotive sector.

Study modules

As courses are reviewed regularly, the module lists you choose from may vary from the ones shown here.

Work placements

You will spend your third year on a work placement, which is a great opportunity to enhance your CV, preparing you for future employment. You will gain commercial and practical experience working on a guaranteed placement with BMW both at BMW Plant Regensburg in Germany and MINI Plant Oxford.

For the academic year 2016/17, the fee during the placement year is £1,350 if you are a UK/EU student and £3,700 if you are an international student. This fee is the equivalent of a module. It covers the cost of your placement tutor, and the support we provide during your placement role. It may change in accordance with any fee changes for the 2017/18 academic year. During your placement year you will still be classed as a student. You will be paid a financially sustainable salary which will vary depending on your role.

Study abroad

In the second year you will study at OTH Regensburg which is one of the top 10 Universities of Applied Science in Germany.

Studying abroad provides an amazing opportunity to add value to your studies by:

  • improving your employment prospects within an international market
  • boosting your language skills
  • building your confidence in adapting to new situations
  • improving your knowledge of different cultures.
