Course Content
  • Year 1

    Our chemistry courses are part of a network enabling you to transfer between chemistry courses at the end of Year 1.

    Year 1 aims to provide a firm grounding in the most important principles of chemistry including introduction to chemical analysis, essentials of modern industrial chemistry and fundamental chemistry concepts. Study options include forensic science, analytical chemistry, insights into drug discovery and a foreign language.

  • Year 2

    In Year 2 the course focuses increasingly on specialist units which include analytical techniques, inorganic and organic synthesis and physical and inorganic chemistry . Options include biochemistry and pharmaceutical chemistry, natural Resources and pollution or a language.

  • Year 3

    If you choose the 4 year sandwich or study overseas option, Year 3 will be spent on work placement or studying abroad.

    In your final year you will undertake a research project in line with your specialism and also study research methods, advanced chemistry concepts. Options include chemistry and environmental risk management.
