Course Overview
This BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies is designed to enable you to develop the knowledge, skills and competency with which to work as a senior practitioner in Early Years.
This three year full-time degree is designed to provide an excellent career opportunity for those who already work in an Early Years setting but who do not have a recognised practice qualification, and also for those who want to begin working with children aged 0-8years and their families.
The programme provides the opportunity to study early childhood from a broad, multidisciplinary perspective with strong emphasis on experiential practice, observations and professional reflections.
Modules studied include: Early Learning and Development; Educational Play; Collaborative Working; Leadership and Development; Safeguarding; Language Development; and Inclusivity and Multicultural Awareness.
Successful completion of the course leads some students to undertake initial teacher training while others gain managerial posts in Early Years or other related aspects of local authority provision. Some students progress to further study, for example higher level degree courses (e.g. Master's Level in Family and Community Work or Education).
