This exciting and innovative programme is designed for those who want to take over the management of an existing hospitality business, are aiming for leadership positions and/or want to start a new enterprise. You’ll develop the necessary skills required to set-up and manage a successful hospitality business including technical, supervisory and managerial skills and techniques with a specific application to the world of entrepreneurship.

Learn how to develop a business through effective communication using a variety of tools; demonstrating strong consumer understanding and a have mind-set that takes measured risks, that perceives and creates opportunities and has the resourcefulness to pursue opportunities in an ethical and sustainable.

About this course

The BA (Hons) Hospitality Management with Entrepreneurship will balance academic rigour with industry readiness, skills, knowledge, and experience. During this course you will develop a range of relevant skills and knowledge alongside personal development goals. By linking the programme directly to industry advice and expertise, we will support you to become 'industry ready' from the very beginning of your journey.

You’ll learn about and reflect on the impacts of the hospitality industry on the environmental, economic, social, and cultural fabric of society. Recognise and consider the management disciplines which underpin the management of the hospitality industry and their individual operations. You’ll also understand the markets, customers’ needs and behaviour, and other drivers of change that affect the development of the hospitality industry and their products from an entrepreneurial point of view, enabling you to develop effective management strategies for hospitality organisations and enterprises.

There is a vast range of careers available to those qualified in the Hospitality, Events and Tourism sectors.

These could include jobs such as; expert operatives, supervisors, junior managers, creative ‘intrapreneurs’ and start-up business entrepreneurs (niche services) have been defined for the hotel, meetings and events, banqueting and business tourism venues.

Entertainment in Stadia, Arena and Theatre venues require similar supervisory, operational and junior management roles. UEL is connected to a number of trade and professional associations whose membership comprises employers and operatives from across the Hospitality sector. These include:

OPTIONAL PLACEMENT

This course offers the opportunity of year-long placement between years two and three. If you choose to take this option, you’ll spend your third year on a placement with a relevant company or organisation, adding valuable practical experience to your growing academic knowledge.

There is also the option of a 12 month international internship (between L5 and L6) will be offered to students who are able to participate in working in China, Brazil, Thailand; US; Paris and Marseille.

The extra placement year means it will take four years to complete your studies, instead of three
