Course programme

Our aim is to provide basic awareness of child protection for childcare workers.

The interactive workshop, aims to enable all practitioners to demonstrate common practice and follow common procedures in order to safeguard children.

The 3 hour workshops, can be provided in venues throughout Sussex/ Surrey, Kent, London.

Who is the training for?

All early years, childcare practitioners, any person working with young children. The training underpins National Occupational Standards for early years and play work practitioners. This workshop wold be ideal for training school staff and inset days. This workshop could also be extended to a 1/2 or full day training.

Our aim to to provide basic child protection awareness to anyone working with children. The workshop explores what child abuse is, how to spot potential signs of child abuse, how to respond and steps that can be taken to safeguard a child’s welfare.


Learning outcomes

By the end of the programme participants should

be able to:

•discuss what is meant by safeguarding, abuse and neglect

•identify the signs and indicators of abuse

•have gained or renewed knowledge in relation to the legislation and guidance regarding safeguarding children

•know what to do if there are concerns about a child

•identify the impact of abuse on children and on all those involved

•identify organisational responsibilities in relation to safeguarding children and apply these to practice.
