Basic Construction Skills Certificate Level 1(FECN0018)

What will I study?
• Use of hand tools
• Use of power and small machine tools
• Timber preparation
• Veneering techniques
• Finishing techniques
• Individual student projects

How will I be assessed?
There is no formal examination to sit. The course assessment is entirely based upon your practical work together with a small amount of written work covering basic tools etc.

What added value will I receive?
The course is run by experienced staff in new, purpose built workshops with a huge range of tools and equipment. The construction department has recently been awarded a grade 1 outstanding by Ofsted.

What can I progress to?
On completion of the course you may progress onto the diploma in basic construction or diploma in furniture and cabinet making.
