About this course

• Play with confidence and dexterity in both hands
• Create interesting bass lines from chord charts
• Improvise melodic solos
• hold a groove in latin, reggae and R&B styles
• Perform with a small ensemble with confidence.

Bring your bass, a lead, manuscript paper and a pencil.
The tutor will provide other musical materials.

Course programme

• diatonic major scales and arpeggios
• diatonic minor scales and arpeggios
• Right hand techniques e.g. picking, slaps
• Improvisation in bass lines and solos
• the use of modes in accompaniment and soloing
• the blues scale and its application
• basic chromatic theory and its application
groove development.

This group class will be taught through tutor demonstration and explanation, playing together and individually, and some class discussion. Some amplification is supplied. Practice between classes is essential to your progress, and to the momemtum of the course.

Additional information
