I have not started this course yet as I cannot afford the fees. I would recommend this excellent course opportunity to anyone who wants to become a barber. I spoke to the course leader we gave me the drive to save to attend this course. Leicester college is a fantastic college to learn from.

My experience was good overall however when I did visit the entrance staff sent me to the first floor, however the course stall was on the first floor.
This did waste a bit in my time as I was on a tight schedule however when I did get to the stall the staff and information was great.

the course is very thorough and Sam tailored it to modern trends and talked about her own experiences - I found this really useful because I was a bit scared of difficult client scenarios.
Regarding the center, I must say that the assessment part is really good. I got a chance to revise what I had learnt and also, although it wasn't very pressurised, I did feel the pressure because I knew my work was being watched and assessed. This was good because that is the same feeling you get when you have your client - they too will give you their verdict of what they think of your work. So after the course I felt really prepared. ← | → -
After learning how to do my own make-up from Sam I realised I had a real interest in make-up and decided to look into being a make-up artist. As I feel confident in her teaching I decided to take this course, and I am so pleased that I did!
I really liked the level of detail and also the amount of practice I got during the training. I thought that I would end up with the skills but would need more time afterwards to feel confident enough to do other peoples make-up but Sam was really encouraging and the amount of practice I have had during the course means that I do feel ready. In fact I had my first client a week ago - scary but loved it!
I am due to take the hair styling course later this month as I want to work as a freelancer for weddings and special occasions, am really looking forward to it.
The professional picture that Sam sent me of my work was a really good stepping stone for me to be able to get my first client as I had an image of my work. I couldn't believe I had done it myself!
I found the assessment really useful because I was able to revise what I had learnt but also, it gave me a taste of the feeling of doing a real client, which made me feel a lot more confident when I had my first real one. I looked at other courses but they only give you a certificate for attending the course, not from an assessment, and I have found that people are more confident to go with me as their make-up artist even though I am new to it, when I tell them that I have been assessed.

Back in education after 25 years! Really enjoying the practical side of the course and finding the theory more challenging but still enjoyable. I’ve been working in a bank for the past 15 years so this is a completely different direction for me.

As I have been freelancing as a makeup artist for over two years, I felt that my skills were still quite novice or just needed some brushing up.
My lesson with Sumantha was very helpful indeed and I learned a great deal. I was given useful feedback on how I currently apply makeup which I found very useful as I don't receive enough ongoing feedback in my work. She also provided me with other tips/advice on makeup application which I will take with me in future work. A great lesson.

I felt that the course was very helpful, but as I only had a short session I felt it was slightly rushe, I would of liked to apply the make up myself. But I did learn as much as I could wit great tips involved.

Due to the coronavirus lockdowns I become self-employed, I took several courses since the very first lockdown took place and I started to work as a deep-tissue/ pregnancy/ sports massage therapist after the initial 3 moths of learning and preparing the facility for my customers. My customers are visiting me at my own home. After 6 months of being a successful massage therapist (I am more than happy with being self-employed!), I decided to widen my services and to start professional hot-waxing as well. This course was all I needed, it's pleasant and easy to learn, relevant knowledge that will not overwhelm you, with the constant professional advice, proper practise and nice, neat a tidy facility. Highly recommended! Ps. I do not ever be afraid to start your own business! It is worth trying!

How easy it was to get access to it. No complications at all. The information given was clear and they were also very flexible in accommodating my needs. The online part (theory) is a nice touch. It helps you with practical. The instructor really knew how to explain and break it down. She kept it really excited and also gave advice on my particular situation (running my own business and coorporating what I learn into it). All questions were answered too.
