HAIRDRESSING (NVQ Level I)

Why should I come to Pendleton College?

What will I study?
Units include:
  • Health and Safety
  • Reception Duties
  • Working Relationships
  • Shampoo and Condition Hair
  • Prepare for Hairdressing Services and Maintain Work Areas
  • Assist with Hair Colour Services


What will I achieve?
You will gain an NVQ Level 1 in hairdressing which will prepare you for employment as a salon junior or shampooist. You may progress to Hairdressing NVQ Level 2, Diploma Level 2 or Barbaring NVQ Level 2.

How is the course assessed?
Practical assessment is essential for a candidate to be rewarded a final qualification. Final assessment will be based on a portfolio of evidence produced by the candidate to include:
  • Client consultation sheets
  • Photographic evidence
  • Unit assignments
  • Written tests
  • Oral questioning
  • Online assessments


What else will I do?
Our links with Wella will enable you to visit studios for technical demonstrations and seminars. You will also be able to take part in competitions and hairdressing catwalk shows. You will also visit Professional Beauty North held at Gmex. You will also be given the opportunity to join in competitions such as the North West Competition at Blackpool and to visit Salon International in London or Manchester. We have guest speakers and you will be able to visit beauty studios and demonstrations. The course consists of industrial experience in hairdressing or beauty salons and this will give you an insight into the industry.
