About this course
You will need NVQ level 2 Beauty Therapy or an equivalent qualification. You will also need to purchase a uniform for approximately £72 and a kit for approximately £161. (Order forms are available from the College.) The Student
Support Fund may be able to help you with payments towards these costs.

About the Course
Unit G1 ensures that your actions reduce risks to health and safety. These duties are relevant to everyone in the workplace, irrespective of their role.
Unit G6 deals with the way you promote additional products and services to clients to extend their use of your salon.
Unit G11 shows you how to monitor and effectively use salon resources, and meet productivity and development targets, enabling you to make a positive contribution to the financial effectiveness of the business.
Unit BT17 gives you the skills you need to provide manual massage of the head and body as well as teaching you mechanical body massage techniques.
Unit BT19 deals with improving face and skin conditions using electrotherapy. Learn the skills involved in conducting thorough consultations with clients to formulate individual treatment plans.
Unit BT20 will enable you to adapt Indian Head Massage techniques to suit individual clients†needs.
Unit BT21 will develop your ability to adapt the use of pre blended oils and massage techniques to your clients†individual needs.
PLUS
Unit BT18 develops the skills you need to prepare and perform a range of electrotherapy treatments to improve body condition according to your clients†specific needs.
Cert. in Electrical Epilation. You will learn techniques for removing facial and body hair, with the opportunity to also study for BT36 (see below, depending on progress).
Unit BT36 is an optional unit and is about improving skin condition using micro-dermabrasion. You will study techniques used to minimise, scar tissue, hyperpigmentation, fine lines and stretch marks.

Practical salon based tasks - 80%
Written assignment - 15%
Examinations for each unit - 5%.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
Are there opportunities for trips or visits?
You will have the opportunity to attend various exhibitions. In addition you will carry out work experience in the industry.
What next?
This course can take you into a supervisory role within the beauty industry, or you can continue to develop your skills and qualifications by taking the Diploma in Holistic Therapies.
