Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 1

Is this course for me?
This course covers the foundation requirements of all beauty
therapy and is an excellent entry route for those wishing to work
in this area.
What will I study?
This course is a popular foundation course that consists of both
practice and theory and takes place in our state-of-the-art T'ien
Beauty Academy. As part of the course you will assist with
treatments and services to the public and will work on a rota to
mirror the working environment of a salon. Subjects covered include
health and safety, salon reception, preparing and maintaining the
work area, facial treatments and nail treatments. You may be
required to attend a work placement on one day per week during the
second half of this course.

What can I do next?
This can lead to progression on to Beauty Therapy NVQ Level 2
and then a range of employment opportunities in health and beauty
salons.

What are the entry requirements?
You will need to take an aptitude test and attend an interview.
It is essential that applicants have an enquiring mind, enthusiasm
and motivation to work with the public. Evidence of an excellent
record of attendance, punctuality and commitment from your school
will also be required.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment includes assignments, practical assessments, oral
questions and written papers. Students produce a portfolio of
evidence to support the assessment process. Throughout the course
there are regular meetings with a personal tutor to discuss
progress and to help plan studies.
What will it cost?
If you are under 19 and a home student, in most circumstances,
you don't pay any fees. However, you will need to find this out
when you apply.
