Short Description: This is an introductory course for anyone wanting to pursue a career in Beauty Therapy on which students will learn basic skills.

Where will it take me? This course can lead to careers in beauty therapy. If you secure employment you can become an Apprentice and study NVQ Level 2 Beauty Therapy.

What's it all about? This course provides an introduction to beauty therapy.

Subjects studied will include:

• Customer care
• Basic salon reception duties
• Introduction to health and safety
• Introduction to providing beauty therapy services
• Introduction to assisting beauty therapy services

You will be required to complete Essential Skills in Literacy, Numeracy and IT if you do not have a GCSE grade C in English, Maths or IT.

How will this course make me more employable? As well as gaining a recognised qualification you will complete a period of work placement, take part in employability skills workshops. The Careers Education Programme is an integral part of this course which will equip you with the knowledge to make informed career decisions.

How will I be assessed? Assessments are carried out in the commercial salon and by written exam.
