ileen Gauthiers yoga practice comes from both a traditional and an experimental background. On the traditional side, she has been practising Mysore style Ashtanga daily for several years and completed the Advanced A (or 3rd) series with certified teachers John Scott and Hamish Hendry. In parallel and on the experimental side, she has been studying with the Tripsichore Yoga Dance Theatre company since 1999 and has toured and performed internationally as a member of the company since 2002.

Course programme

Beginners Ashtanga Yoga

Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic and physically demanding style of yoga where movement is synchronised with the breath and a set series of poses are linked in a constant flow. This creates a detoxifying heat (be prepared to sweat!) and has the effect of stilling the mind and creating a feeling of calm focus.

Your teacher will guide you through the fundamental elements and poses of Ashtanga Yoga creating a strong foundation for your practice and leaving you feeling confident to join any of our level one or open level classes or Ashtanga Self-Practice. A basic level of fitness is helpful when starting Ashtanga Yoga.
