Course review:
This one day Belt Making course introduces you to the craft of belt making as well as giving you an understanding of leathers and tools. Belt Making is something that can be easily continued at home and many students have set up their own business after taking the course.
You can learn how to make Dog Collars as well as Belts and most students come away with 2 belts and a variety of techniques:
- Cutting hide/leather
- Bevelling the leather
- Burnishing and creasing cut edges
- Riveting
- Skiving the leather
- Attaching a dot fastener
- Saddle stitch
During this class you will use vegetable tanned leather to make a belt that involves traditional leather craft techniques. There is a choice of leather and buckles but you are welcome to bring along your own materials. Please let us know if you need help with this.
