BIIAB National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders

Assessment and Progression:

Assessment of knowledge takes place by successfully completing a 40 question multi-choice examination paper at the end of the day. To successfully achieve the qualification candidates must answer 28 of the 40 questions correctly.

The programme is currently available as a 1 day programme, which requires nine hours attendance. Start dates are throughout the year.

The fees for 2010/11 will be £150 including registration.

Course Description:

This programme is designed to provide a basic knowledge and understanding of the licensing laws before applying for a Personal Licence.

Subjects covered are:

• The Licensing Act 2003, Licensing Policy, Duties of a Personal Licence Holder including those of the Designated Premises Supervisor, Licensable Activities.
• Operating Schedules, Conduct on Licensed Premises, The Protection of Children from Harm, Employment of Young Persons, Gaming, Betting and Lotteries, Rights of Entry.

The social responsibilities of licensees covering the following topics:

• The effect of alcohol in the body, happy hours, drinking and driving, prevention of violence.
• Proof of age, drugs, door staff, pub watch and the Alcolhol Harm Reduction Strategy.
