The Bridging Course - PSD (Wood Street Campus)

Who is this course for?

This course is for young people aged 16 - 18 years old who have had their education disrupted in some way. Perhaps you did not do so well in your GCSEs? Maybe you have only recently arrived in the UK and have no qualifications? Or it could be that you suffered illness or injury and couldn't complete your school year. The Bridging Course is here to get you back to where you want to be, with a full set of qualifications to take you forward. You will join a Bridging group with other young people who have similar stories to you and you will work for a year to achieve the qualifications you need to be successful.

What qualifications or experience do I need ?

None, but motivation, determination to succeed and a good attitude towards learning are all vital.

What will I study ?

You will study a range of qualifications to give you a great portfolio of certificates in: Functional Skills English Functional Skills Maths Functional Skills ICT BTEC L1 Certificate Personal & Social Development BTEC L1 Award Business Administration BTEC L1 Award Money & Finance Skills BTEC L1 Award Applied Science BTEC L1 Award Art & Design Level 1 Award in Employability Skills (including a 2 week work experience placement) GCSE English Language* GCSE Maths* *Please note that GCSE English Language and GCSE Maths are only available subject to you holding a previous D grade and / or passing an initial assessment.

What qualifications could I achieve ?

You can achieve a whole range of qualifications (see above) at Entry Level, level 1 and Level 2.

Come and see the Bridging team at Southgate or Wood Street Campus during our main enrolment period, to discuss how the Bridging Course can help you get to where you want to be. Will I need an interview ?

Yes - but motivation and enthusiasm are more important than experience / qualifications. It is more of a discussion than an interview. We want to open the doors that are closed to you right now and an important part of this is seeing you in person and discussing how we can help. You will also sit an English and Maths assessment to help us establish the right Bridging group for you.

Any extra costs for equipment/materials ?

You only need to provide basic equipment such as pens, paper, folders, calculators etc. We will supply the rest.
