About BSc Biochemistry with Study in Industry
You can enter this course by transferring from any of our other BSc Biochemistry courses following a selection process at the start of your second year.
In your third year you will undertake a full-time research placement in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industries, or at a research institute in the UK or overseas. Recent UK placements have included GSK, Pfizer, Astra Zeneca and Proctor and Gamble. Overseas placements have included the University of the Basque Country, Kyushu University, the Max Planck Institute and De Duve Institute.
Placements are usually paid and will give you experience of working at an external research laboratory. At the end of your placement you will write a report on the research you have undertaken, which will be assessed as part of your degree.
This course was one of the first in the UK to be accredited by the Royal Society of Biology in recognition of its academic excellence and research training.
