Course description
Use your existing advanced diploma to prepare for a career in commercial property industry. You gain the core skills and knowledge relevant to most areas of property management and construction, as well as essential employability skills needed by employers.
You study a wide range of content including • building studies • project planning • real estate law and investment • corporate real estate • reseach • professional skills.
You also examine environmental, political and social issues in international real estate to gain a critical overview of the area.
You gain valuable practical knowledge and skills in areas such as finance, property valuation and investment and also the impact of environmental issues in relation to business property. These are vital management skills in a modern international business.
You then blend the knowledge and skills you have gained by completing a major project working with other students in a business management team.
As well as gaining property management skills and knowledge, you also develop your business knowledge and employability skills such as problem solving, report writing, communication, working in groups and IT. These make you more attractive to employers and increase your career opportunities and the range of roles available to you.
If you wish to develop your career still further there are opportunities to progress onto our MSc programme, which offers Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors accreditation giving you professional status.
Contact hours
You take part in a minimum of 12 taught hours per week. The normal teaching pattern typically involves one lecture and one seminar per week, per module. You also have additional timetabled hours periodically for other activities such as laboratory work, guest lectures and field trips.
