This course provides you with the knowledge and understanding of business and financial theories and applies them strategically to organisations operating within a highly digitised and changing global environment. Through the use of a wide range of concepts, approaches, research techniques and e-learning forums, the course will equip you with a range of personal and intellectual skills in preparation for a career in financial, banking and general management fields.

This will include: a microeconomic perspective, which deals with firms, markets and customers; and a macroeconomic perspective, which considers the impact of changes in the national and international economies on business organisations and their stakeholders

This module introduces students to the importance of organisational structure in terms of aligning the activities of the business to the corporate strategy. Businesses today face considerable competition in the marketplace and therefore must ensure they have a long-term strategy, and that this is achieved through effective implementation. The module will explore the role that organisational structure plays in the effective implementation of corporate strategy. The module will: Develop understanding of the historical and theoretical basis of organisational structure. Identify and discuss the different structures that can be seen within organisations and how these have developed/evolved over time. Examine the relationship between organisational structure and business strategy. Use will be made of examples to illustrate how organisational structure impacts on the achievement of organisational mission and goals and effective management Discuss and evaluate the factors that affect the design of organisational structure Evaluate the impact of organisational structure on people and resources and the implications for the business

Customer acquisition and retention is at the centre of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) strategy, an established marketing approach for managing a company’s interaction with current and future customers. This module encourages students to understand the theory and concepts underpinning customer retention strategies. The role of analytical CRM systems is to analyse customer data collected through multiple sources and present it so that managers can make more informed business decisions. Students will appreciate the importance of the customer value chain and the need to understand the customer journey from enquiry to purchase and aftermarket support. This applies to both conventional purchase methods and online transactions. Students will gain practical experience of planning digital marketing campaigns designed to attract, win and retain customers using the latest SEO/SEM online advertising and re-marketing techniques.
