Course programme

Award Level: Level 2

Awarding Body: Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA)

Details:

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, which became law from October 2006, it will no longer be the Fire Service's duty to make sure the workplace is safe. That duty will lie with 'the responsible person' who will be held accountable under the new legislation.

Overview

The Level 2 Certificate in Fire Risk Assessment provides formal recognition of an individual’s ability to undertake a fire risk assessment in line with the Health and Safety Executive’s guidance. Accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) at Level 2 in the National Qualifications Framework.

Benefits

A nationally-recognised, transferable qualification based on the Health and Safety Executive’s guidance on fire risk assessment which allows employers to get ‘the responsible person’ properly qualified to carry out fire risk assessments, helping them to meet their legal obligations.

The course is delivered using up-to-date and practical training, supplemented with completely new learning materials and specially developed interactive learning sessions. Assessment is administered by the BSC Examinations department and is based around a fit for purpose task related directly to the candidate’s workplace, testing the application of learning in a practical context. Assessments are booked directly with the British Safety Council upon completion of the course.

Course Framework

Our training utilises the very latest learning methods, with special emphasis on participative and interactive techniques. Overall, the aim of our training is to share knowledge and practical experience and, through tutor-led sessions, build on that experience so that every participant is able to manage risk assessment effectively and realistically.
