The travel industry is a growing one, and the number of job opportunities is varied and plentiful. Career opportunities are available in areas such as travel agencies, holiday representatives, customer service in hotels and hospitality, or working on the rail network or at airports. Those students who are successful to merit standard on Level 2 can progress on to Level 3 Travel and Tourism. Students who have successfully completed this programme have gone on to work at visitor attractions, travel agents and in hospitality.

Course programme

Compulsory units on the programme are Customer Service, The Travel and Tourism Sector and The Nature and Effects of World Travel. Other units studied include European Destinations, Holiday Planning and Preparing for Employment Work experience will be carried out in the Colleges ABTA bonded Travel Shop which is open to staff, students and members of the public. All students without an A*-C grade in English or Maths will be required, as a condition of the programme, to undertake either a GCSE or Functional Skills programme.Teaching and assessment methods vary from lectures and written assignments to demonstrations and seminars. You can expect to attend the College for approximately 15-16 hours per week and you will need to complete work at home.
