BTEC Extended Diploma in Art and Design (Fashion and Textiles Pathway) Level 3

You will explore and experiment with aspects of fashion and textiles taking part in a series of creative briefs, developing your ideas through research, drawing and fabric manipulation.

You will look into textiles processes, the technical aspects of fashion promotion and illustration, as well as using digital software.

You will have opportunities to take part in live projects and competitions, go on regular visits and trips to museums, galleries and exhibitions as well as fashion events, trade exhibitions and higher education fairs.

You will study:

• drawing and idea development,
• fabric manipulation,
• textile design techniques and processes,
• fashion design,
• pattern cutting,
• garment production,
• portfolio development.

Entry Requirements

• A minimum of five GCSEs grade A*-C, including English language and an art, design or craft related subject, and maths at grade D or above, or
• a level 2 art and design qualification at overall merit grade, English at level 2 and maths at level 1.

You will also need a strong portfolio of art and design work which shows your enthusiasm for the subject.
