Five GCSEs at Grade C or above are required although account will be taken of other experience and qualifications; equally important are your enthusiasm, commitment and your willingness to work hard on all areas of the course.  You will have the opportunity to show any existing work at the interview stage.

This is an advanced level course.  Achievement at D*D*D* attracts 420 UCAS points (equivalent to 3 A levels at A*).  The course has an excellent progression rate for students wishing to enter Higher Education, all students will be guided through the UCAS application process in the second year of the course.

The media industry is in an age of rapid growth with global communication networks bringing the digital age to every home.

The Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Creative Media Production (TV and Film) provides the knowledge, understanding and skills for learners wishing to enter upon a career in the media or progress to higher education.

You will learn about every aspect of moving image production and will be involved in a range of projects throughout the course.  The course will give you the skills and knowledge to take an idea from concept to screen.  Units of study include;

The environment is like working within a professional production company developing high quality moving image productions to real deadlines.  The course is based in the Art, Design and Media building on the main College site.  Facilities are of a high quality including dedicated digital video editing suites on both Apple Mac and PC based platforms running industry standard software and related packages.  There is a purpose built TV Studio with professional lighting rig, blue/green screens and vision-mixing equipment with the facility to stream TV shows ‘live’ to the internet. There has been heavy investment in industry standard kit including Canon and Sony digital video cameras as well as associated sound and editing equipment.
