Course information:
BTEC Higher National Certificate in Manufacturing (Fabrication and Welding)


Course content:
This programme has been designed to satisfy the educational experience necessary for higher technicians in Fabrication and Welding Engineering.

A HNC also provides an entry qualification for relevant degree courses if certain options are included in the programme.

Assessment procedure:
The programme comprises of units which are assessed singularly, but credit can be awarded on a subject to subject basis, up to a maximum of five, for previous study or qualifications. To obtain a Higher National Certificate a student must have been credited with or succeeded in a unit total value of ten.

Entry requirements:
Potential students should have one of the following entry qualifications:
  • National Certificate/Diploma in Fabrication and Welding Engineering
  • Mathematics and a relevant Science Subject studied to 'A' level having obtained a pass in one.
  • A BTEC National Certificate/Diploma award in another related discipline
  • Other relevant experience and academic qualifications


Qualifications achieved:
BTEC Higher National Certificate in Manufacturing (Fabrication and Welding)

Progression opportunities:
On successful completion of this course students would be able to progress to BTEC Higher National Diploma or a Degree at University.
