The BTEC Introductory Diploma is equivalent to 4 GCSEs grade D-G and is composed of eight units: three Core units, two Personal Skills units and three Option units
This qualification has been accredited by QCA at Level 1 of the NQF and is:
available for delivery in centers from September 2004
available pre-16 and post-16 and funded on Sections 96 and 97
listed on the DFES Achievement and Attainment Table.
Structure of BTEC Introductory Diploma in
Learners will be required to study all three core units as well as two Personal Skills units and three option units
All Core units must be studied
Unit 1: Starting Work in the IT Industry
Unit 2: Working in the IT Industry
Unit 3: Developing IT Skills
Personal Skills units – two units must be studied
Unit 4: Personal Effectiveness
Unit 5: Social Responsibility at Work
Unit 6: Financial Management
Optional units – three units must be studied
Unit 7: PC Systems
Unit 8: Using the Internet
Unit 9: IT Applications
Unit 10: Digital Devices
Commencement: January/April/September of each year
