ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
The CompTIA Strata is a brand new course designed to give you an understanding of a variety of fundamental information technologies. It is ideally placed to meet the need of the following:

- Small business employees who are considered to be the company 'IT Specialist' but who hold other primary positions and no formal IT support qualifications.
- Advanced home users who would like to take their knowledge further.
- As a replacment for company run in house PC courses.
- Individuals who would like to do the CompTIA A+ or Network+ but do not have the necessary experience.

No pre-requisite knowledge requirements although a basic knowledge of software such as the Microsoft Office suite would be advantages; it is however essential that you have a good level of English language skills.
PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
The qualification covers two key areas of competency:
1. Fundamentals of PC functionality including:
* IT Vocabulary
* Recognising PC parts, peripherals,and connections
* Setting up a workstation and installing software
* On-line and data security

2. Fundamentals of Technology
* Chracteristics of computer hardware
* Basic compatibility issues and common errors
* Safety Guidelines
* Basic preventative maintenance
PROGRESSION/CAREERS OPPORTUNITIES
Natural progression from this course would be the CompTIA A+ technician course followed by the Network+ networking course and more specialist Server+ server support course.
