Course Content: The aim of the BTEC Introductory Certificate is to stimulate and recognise achievement in learners who may wish to follow a vocationally related course. You will have gained some qualifications at Entry Level; have limited achievement at GCSE and wish to make a fresh start on a course that offers a different learning and assessment style.
Alternatively you may be post-19 and intend to return to education/training or prepare for employment. It is hoped that during the course you will increase your dance, drama and music skills both practically and academically but at the same time you develop as a person learning how to communicate and work effectively as a team member as well as independently, taking responsibility for your own learning and personal development.
Special Features: We recommend some key texts at the beginning of the course; however we have copies of these in our library. Money for theatre trips is also useful.
Course Format: You will learn through practical workshops, performances, research and written assignments alongside project led continuous assessment and through regular assessments and tutorials.
The course is for students who wish to:
· Study performing arts further at Further Education level
· Develop skills suitable for employment within the performing arts industry
· Develop personal skills
Progression: It is hoped that students having completed Level 1 would progress onto a Level 2 BTEC First Diploma in Dance, Drama or Music lasting one year. It would then be possible to progress through to a National Diploma course studying for a further two years.
