Course description: This course will develop your knowledge of the core vehicle technology subjects, as well as giving you the chance to develop and apply fault diagnosis skills. You will learn how automotive businesses operate and the factors that affect them and the wider industry.
You will also have the chance to develop and apply the use of vehicle technology maths /science and electronic principles in a range of vehicle technology projects.
There are 11 units to complete these include:
 

Vehicle Project

Operation of Vehicle Chassis Systems

Vehicle Engine Principles, Operation, Service and Repair

Vehicle System Fault Diagnosis and Rectification

Applications of Vehicle Science and Mathematics

Electrical and Electronic Principles for Vehicle Technology
Students will achieve a Diploma after successfully completing year 1 and will have the possibility to progress to an Extended Diploma in year 2.









Entry requirements: Applicants should have five GCSEs at grade A* - C including English, Science and Maths (ideally grade A* - B) .

In addition a pre-entry task must be completed to a high standard.
 









Objective: This is an ideal course for you if you want to develop your automotive engineering skills and explore your opportunities within this innovation-led industry. It is equivalent to two A Levels dependent on grades achieved. The course is also suitable for someone who wants to study automotive / motorsport engineering at University, or for someone who wants to become a higher technician in this sector









Assessment: Assessment is by assignments for the 11 units and will be marked Pass Merit and Distinction
