On completion and achievement of the 2 year extended diploma, you will have a nationally recognised qualification equivalent to 3 'A' Levels, and therefore will be able to progress to higher education. Or through all the experiences and contacts gained on the course, you will be well equipped and positioned to get a job in your chosen career.
This business course teaches the core business theory and then students apply their learning through the setting up and running of their own micro-businesses. Units of study include Business Planning, Financial Planning and Implementation, Market Research and Analysis, Marketing, Leadership and Teamwork, Operating your business, Business in an international context, E-Marketing and Website Design.
In addition to the core curriculum, every Wednesday is Enterprise Wednesday where guest speakers and specialists in their field (eg law, social media) are invited to come and speak to the learners or run workshops. Recent examples include David Gold (West Ham, Ann Summers), Onyi Anyado (How to become an Entrepreneur of Distinction), and Tom Allason (Shutl).
There is also at least one trip per term, for example to the Start Up Business Show at Olympia.
All learners go out on 4 weeks work placement to brands such as United Biscuits, Graysons, Urban Media and IFX.
