This Level 3 course is designed for those interested in careers in any of the uniformed services including the Army, RAF, Navy, Ambulance Service, Police, Fire Service, Prison Service and Customs and Excise. Successful completion of the Subsidiary Diploma & Diploma will enhance skills needed for a career in the public services and passing the selection process. The Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma & Diploma provides access to courses in higher education as well as a good starting point for those wishing to work in sports or outdoor pursuits, as units include a variety of outdoor and fitness sessions such as kayaking, rock climbing, mountaineering, sailing and practical gym work. Students develop vital life skills like teamwork, communication, leadership, discipline and respect and should be prepared to interact with these in order to develop as individuals. Students should be prepared to undertake a course that has an equal mix of practical and theory units and that their overall grade at the end of the course will be based on both areas of study.
About this course
On successful completion of the course you will have the skills and knowledge to progress to employment in many of the uniformed services or on to further study on a Foundation Degree or Degree programme - this qualification is equivalent to 3 A Levels.
This course is suitable for students who would like a career in the Uniformed Public Services who are motivated, enthusiastic, adventurous and enjoy participating regularly in sport. Please note if you are aged 19+ you will be required to pay the full cost of the course.
Police, Fire Service, Army, Navy, RAF, Prison Service, Customs and Execise, Public Sector employment.
You will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A*-C including English and maths grades 9-4 (formerly A*-C). Alternatively successful completion of a relevant Level 2 qualification and have achieved a Level 2 Functional Skill in English and maths.
