If you have completed your engineering apprentice and want to progress further in your career, are working as an engineering operative and want to improve your skills, or want to move up the career ladder into a supervisory or management role in the industry, an HNC/HND is a great qualification to have. The HNC is mainly a theory-led classroom-based theory course will give you the skills, knowledge and confidence to achieve your ambition or to move on to further study such as an HND or university degree. Tutors on the course are all qualified engineers – at degree level or above - have extensive experience of working in the industry and throughout the course you will have the opportunity to take part in a range of additional activities to enhance your learning such as industry visits, hearing from inspirational speakers. Our state-of-the-art engineering workshops are equipped with a range of industry-standard equipment including millers, lathes, CNC tooling and laser cutters, as well as fabrication and welding equipment such as Tig, Mig and Arc welders and CAD suites.

About this course
To access the course you are required to have: Level 3 Engineering qualification OR Relevant industry experience with a Level 3 maths qualification* You will also be required to attend a college interview and assessment You must be aged 18 or above to study a HNC/D qualification * for students who do not have Level 3 maths the college offers a part-time Bridging Maths for HNC course which must be competed prior to acceptance on the course
