About this course
Minimum 4 relevant GCSE at A* -C including English or a First Diploma at Merit in a relevant vocational area. A grade C in GCSE Mathematics and Science is also desirable.

This course aims to develop knowledge and understanding of the Sports industry and the career within it. A strong interest in sport, sport science and the business of the sports and fitness industry is essential and will determine success on the course. This course looks to develop knowledge and skills in selected activities; and explore the contemporary sociological issues in modern sport. This is a practical work related course where you learn by completing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. You will also have the opportunity to find ways to improve your own performance through greater understanding of the subject.
What will I be doing?
The course is made up of twelve units looking at a wide range of aspects of the sports and fitness industry. Industry Units include:
- The body in Action
- Health and Safety in sport
- Sports Coaching
- Sports development
- Practical team Sports
- Sports Nutrition
- Psychology for Sports Performance
- Work Based Experience in Sport
- Sport and Exercise Massage
- Working with Children in Sport
- Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise
The course units are assessed by a mixture of research, written assignments or practical tasks supported by written reports. Assignments are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.
What can I do after completing this course?
Higher Education study at a University or a College of Higher Education. There is a range of further training courses and qualifications you could study for (not just a degree), or employment within the sports and fitness industry.
