This course is for you if you have an interest in sport and wish to gain qualifications for working the sports industry.
What are the entry requirements?
Usually you will need to have at least one of the following a BTEC First Certificate or Diploma in a related subject, an Intermediate GNVQ in a related subject, at least 4 GCSEs at grades A-C or appropriate work experience.

You can read and understand short pieces of writing such as letters, messages, simple stories, timetables and adverts. You can write short pieces of writing - for example an email to a friend, a simple letter, a story or a message.
You can work with numbers, symbols, and simple diagrams. You can add and subtract simple numbers and use simple fractions. You can use money, tell the time, measure things and know about squares, triangles and rectangles.
What qualification will I receive?
BTEC National Certificate in Sport.
Where can it lead?
If you want to get a job straight away you could work in sports centres, leisure centres and outdoor activities centres. If you decided to go to university or college and have other qualifications, you could take a degree or BTEC Higher National in subjects such as Sport Studies, Leisure Management, Recreation Management or Teacher Training.
What will I study?
Subjects you will study include: The Body in Action, Health & Safety in Sport, Training & Fitness for Sport, Sport Nutrition, Psychology for Sport Performance, Sport & Exercise Massage, Sports Coaching and Sports Injuries. You can also study key skills including Communications, Numeracy and IT.
How will I be taught?
The course consists of 12 units. You will develop knowledge, understanding and practical skills in the field of sport.
How will I be assessed?
The units are assessed via a portfolio.

You will have access to a tutor to help you throughout the course. The College offers a comprehensive range of student services including learning, language support and guidance.
