The BTEC National Certificate in Health & Social Care is a specialist work-related programme of study to enable you to
have knowledge, skills and understanding associated with this subject. It will introduce you to work related learning and provide a broad introduction of the vocational sector.

The course consists of coursework only. Assignments are written to enable you to make maximum use of practical
activities and work experience.
Work Placement
You will have the opportunity to undergo work placement one day per week to enable a good understanding of the
course and develop some of the skills used in the care setting. This will be in a range of Health & Social Care settings.
Where does the BTEC National Certificate in Health & Social Care take me?
Successful completion of the BTEC National Certificate in Health & Social Care offers several routes for progression.
These include: Some Health & Social Care related courses at university, direct entry into employment within the Health
& Social Care Services, eg as a Clinical Support Nurse, Home Help, Occupational Therapy Assistant, Physiotherapy
Assistant etc. Further learning opportunities within employment such as training possibly in National Vocational
Qualification (NVQ).
