A minimum of 4 GCSE's at grade C or above, (including English Language and science and two other core subjects), or GNVQ Intermediate (Merit) or BTEC First Diploma (Merit).

Who is the course for?
The BTEC National Diploma in Care is for people who wish to work in health related industries such as nursing, care work or probation services.
A National Diploma is equivalent to 3 A levels.
What is the course about?
This advanced level course offers you an academic qualification and covers a variety of subject areas in all aspects of care.
You will complete 18 units in total including:
- Equality, diversity and rights in health & social care
- Developing effective communication in health & social care
- Health, safety & security in health and social care
- Life Span development health and social care services provision
- Personal and professional development in health and social care
Supervised work placement (100 hrs) is an integral part of the course.
You will also study a range of Key Skills. Key Skills enables you to demonstrate employability in the workplace and they are a compulsory part of the course.
Will I need anything else?
A current police check (including POVA) must be carried out before acceptance onto the course.
How long & often do I attend?
The course is offered as a 2 year programme and requires attendance of several sessions a week.
How will I be assessed?
Continuous assessment through course work and work placement experience. Some units will be subject to external assessment.
What opportunities will this lead to?
Successful completion of this nationally recognised qualification can lead directly to employment in the caring services.
Alternatively, you can progress in to higher education, such as degrees in nursing, midwifery and the probation service.
