About this course

5 GCSE grades A* - C are normally required, including English. Alternatively, a MERIT grade in BTEC First Diploma or GNVQ Intermediate in a relevant vocational area would also be suitable, normally supported a GCSE grade C in English. You may also be required to take a diagnostic test to ensure you are suitable for the course

Health and Social Care is a practical, work related course that is designed to provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to prepare you for entrance to university or to succeed in a rewarding career in the social care profession.

Where the course lead
University is the most popular route for most students, though this course does prepare you for practical careers in the social care profession. Traditional roles such as nursing and midwifery are always popular. Emerging careers include Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Criminology, and Counselling are amongst those successfully applied for by our students.
