About this course
You will need at least 5 GCSEs in the A*-C range, to include Art or Design and preferably Maths and English at grade C or above, or an appropriate Level 2 qualification such as a Higher Diploma in Creative and Media. A commitment to, and an interest in
media production are essential.

The BTEC National Diploma in Media Production is one of a range of
specialist fast-track alternatives for creative students to traditional sixth form study.
If you are interested in all aspects of the media then this is the course for you. During the course you will be planning and creating your own media products using a wide variety of media techniques, such as animation, filming, script writing, story boarding and researching. You will also see what it†s like to be part of a production team exploring different roles and meeting tight deadlines. You will learn to research, get to grips with preproduction techniques and work on professional briefs.
The course includes:
· Making and editing your own films
· Mastering the art of animation
· Creating â€-idents†for television
· Examining and experiencing radio broadcasting, advertising and print journalism.
You will be learning some of the theory behind films and TV programmes, studying the way the media industry works. Coursework will develop your ability to write and research. You will also be given the chance to gain qualifications in Functional Skills.
How will I be assessed?
The qualification is assessed on a continuous basis through practical and written assignments, both by our staff and external moderators.
