What is this course about? This course will give you the opportunity to develop as a musician / performer and gain an insight into how the music industry operates. The course covers all areas of popular / contemporary music performance and production
Who is this course for? The course is for young people aged 16-18, who have a passion and talent for music performance and production.
What do I need to get on the course?
· 4 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English language,
BTEC First Diploma in a related subject at merit or distinction and key skills at Level 2
.
You will have an audition on your main study (instrument or voice). This will include an aural and comprehension test.
What will I study? Our excellent music and technology facilities make us one of the best equipped colleges in the country. There are many opportunities for students to develop as performers both in and out of college.
You study different aspects of popular / contemporary music, including:
Music performance solo / group
Musicianship
Composition and arrangement
Music keyboard skills
Music business studies
Historical and cultural studies
Music in the community
Instrumental / vocal lessons.
What qualification will I get? BTEC National Diploma in Music Practice.
What can I do after the course? You can go onto higher education at university or a specialist music college. Many students have progressed to a range of institutions including; Lancaster University, Goldsmiths and The University of Westminster. Many students also gain employment in the music or related industry. Previous students have performed / worked with and number of artists and companies including Basement Jaxxs, The Streets, Estelle and Soundbwoy Ent.

How much does the course cost? Home students aged 16-18 do not pay the course fee. Concessionary students aged 19 or over pay a £35 registration annual charge which covers any courses where concessions are available.
