What is this course about? This course is for anyone wanting to progress on to medically related degree courses such as biomedical science and chemistry related courses such as pharmacy and pharmaceutical science.

Who is this course for? Young people aged 16-18 wanting to progress to degree courses in medical or health science

What do I need to get on the course? Four GCSEs at grades A* - C (Maths, English Language and a science are an advantage
- though other combinations are acceptable), or

BTEC First Diploma in Science

What will I study? On this course you learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations and activities. The course includes plenty of laboratory practical work and visits to industry and places of scientific interest.
The emphasis is on continuous assessment rather than end-of-year examinations.
You complete units in biological, chemical and physical sciences. There is plenty of practical work, including an extended research project.

What qualification will I get? BTEC National Diploma in Science

What can I do after the course? The course provides knowledge and skills needed for a career in applied science or entry onto a degrees course. The range of careers in science is enormous. Our students have progressed on to degree courses in pharmacy, biotechnology, forensics, sports science and biomedical science.
