Why study the Advanced Diploma in Business, Administration and Finance?
The Diploma is an applied qualification â€" it combines academic and applied study and has been developed by the Diploma Development Partnership, led by the sector skills councils (the Financial Services Skills Council and the Council for Administration), employers and representatives from higher education and schools.
This Diploma focuses on the themes of enterprise, administration and finance. It is part of the suite of Diplomas developed in collaboration with employers to provide an alternative provision for young people.
At BHASVIC the Diploma is available at Advanced (level 3) and is the points equivalent to 3.5 A Levels.

Structure of the Diploma
There are 10 units of study covering the following topics:
Business Enterprise
Personal Finance & Financial Services
Marketing & Sales
Teams & Communication
Corporate Social ResponsibilityBusiness Administration & Events
Business Financing & Accounting
Customer Service
Responding to Change
Careers & Employment
These units could be studied in a number of ways such as
- visits to employers
- guest speakers from the sector
- realistic environments (e.g. model offices)
- learning and assessment tasks that are relevant to the workplace
- case studies
- the use of e-learning resources.
In addition to these principal learning areas students will learn and develop transferable skills such as team working, problem solving and self-motivation. Functional skills covering IT, Maths and Communication will be broadly integrated into these tasks.
Extended Project
Students will investigate a topical or theoretical business issue and produce a dissertation relevant to their area of study. Alternatively they could conduct an in depth investigate into possible career paths.
This part of the course is particularly valued by employers and higher education.
How will my work be assessed?
The units above are assessed through a combination of internal and external assessments and activities. You will be graded A* to E in common with other A levels.
