The first year of this course will introduce you to the foundations of general business, such as managing resources, economics, marketing and information management.

During the second year, you will develop your problem-solving and decision-making skills in the context of the main business functions, including the international dimensions of starting and running a business and working in different cultures. This approach aims to prepare you for work in an international work environment. You will also take a module on enterprise in society to build your understanding of the principles of entrepreneurship and enterprise development.

The final year draws together the different functional perspectives studied, and will develop your critical understanding and ability to contribute to strategic thinking in a global business environment.

During Years 2 and 3, the course programme offers a degree of flexibility through your choice of option modules. In Year 3, one of the option modules has to be in the area of entrepreneurship.

About this course

This course will provide students with a basic knowledge and understanding of key business foundation disciplines including business environment, economics, resource management and business information systems.
It will develop your knowledge and understanding of the principles of entrepreneurship and enterprise development;
This course will prepare you for work in international work environment.
Optional modules in the second and third years enable you to tailor your degree to your interests and career goals.

The services of a dedicated placement office are offered to all students. During the first year, all students are required to submit a CV which is assessed and critiqued by employability specialists. In addition, a dedicated employability co-ordinator provides drop-in and scheduled events to support you in the preparation of CVs, applications, interviews and assessment centres, which whilst targeted at final-year students, are available for students at any level. If you would prefer to undertake a shorter period of industrial experience (eg internships), the employability co-ordinator also provides internship opportunities.

This course is designed for students who aspire to be innovative leaders and entrepreneurs, and provides a comprehensive and integrated understanding of business in a contemporary and international context. There is also a focus on entrepreneurship in business and management, and it will equip you with the knowledge and skills essential for managing the key business functions.
