Apprenticeships are a vocational training programme leading to a series of qualifications, offering the opportunity to earn while you learn using real working life experience. To become an apprentice at this level, you must be employed in a suitable position.

What modules are covered?

Work Based Learning Element - Business Administration Diploma Level 4: This is a work based qualification that you will complete in the work place. An assessor will be assigned to help you select the modules which best fit with your work and will visit you regularly to help you compile a portfolio of evidence to show your competence. As the diploma is tailored to the individual, the time taken to complete your portfolio will depend on how quickly you collect the evidence. Normally, a level 4 diploma will take up to 2 years to complete.

College Element - Diploma in Buisness and Administration. This develops knowledge and undertsanding of complex business functions and activites. It shapes learners abilitiy to critically analyse and evaluate a range of business systems  and processes. The qualification consists of 8 mandatory units.

College Element - Functional Skills: If you do not hold a GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in IT, English or Maths then you will be required to complete your functional skills. Achievement of this will be by successful completion of online assessment.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment for the Diploma is a combination of portfolio evidence and online and written testing, supported by your assessor, lecturers and employer.

What is the entry process?

Complete an online application form and you will be contacted by the college to discuss the programme in more detail and we will give you more information on how to apply for vacancies, we may also send your application direct to the employer. The employer will shortlist the applicants and will invite the chosen candidates for interview before selecting a successful applicant for the position.What are the entry requirements?

Minimum qualifications: Full level 3

You must have significant experience of working in a business role to ensure that you have suitable foundations on which to build your knowledge and skills and currently be employed in a position suitable for undertaking this programme.

You must hold a Business Administration NVQ at level 3 or have a minimum of 5 years experience in a relevant position.

What else do I need to know?

If you are already employed, you can join the apprenticeship programme with the support of your employer and base it around your current job. This could be an opportunity to show your employer you are ready for the next step in your professional development and want to enhance your role and promotion prospects.

If you are looking for a suitable position to undertake this programme, we work closely with many employers and will help you to search for a vacancy. If you are looking for work independently, ask prospective employers, careers advisors or recruitment services about apprenticeships.

If you apply for vacancies, please check the location of the company. You must be able to travel to work every day and attend college on a weekly basis. Attendance at college will depend on existing qualifications. This will be discussed with individual applicants prior to acceptance onto the programme.

What can I do after this course?

Achievement of the Higher Apprenticeship proves competency in you work based skills and ability to apply knowledge to work based tasks.  This will support future job applications within this area.

On successful completion of the Higher Apprenticeship programme, you will be given advice and guidance about opportunities for further study. You could consider progression from the Foundation Degree by topping up to the BA (Hons) in Business, Strategy and Management.
