Entry Requirements

These NVQs are work-oriented qualifications and are suitable for those who undertake administration related activities. They are open to candidates of either gender and there are no entry barriers on grounds of race, creed or previous academic attainment or learning.

A personal skill scan, conducted by our staff, will ensure that your current job role lends itself to the demands of the National Standards at the preferred level.

This NVQ is designed to reflect the work of administration staff across a wide range of industries and types of organisation and is for those who are working with a high degree of autonomy and personal responsibility. It is aimed at candidates who are involved in developing, implementing and maintaining administrative services for customers and clients.

Description

You will be allocated a personal assessor and supplied with all the necessary reading and assessment material. Your assessor will provide you with personal tutorial support at pre-arranged times and you will also be assessed in the workplace via a variety of assessment methods, including observation, witness testimonies and professional discussion.

Course Content

To achieve a full award at Level 3 candidates must complete six units in total; two mandatory units and four optional units.

The mandatory units are:

  • Carry out your responsibilities at work. Candidates must demonstrate communication, researching, negotiating, planning, time management, problem solving, evaluation and team working skills. They must show that they communicate effectively, accept responsibility for own work and its delivery, improve own performance and behave in a way that encourages effective working.
  • Work within your business environment. Candidates must demonstrate communication, planning, reading, monitoring, problem solving, team working and interpersonal skills. They must show that they work effectively within their organisation, supporting its purpose and values, applying employment rights and responsibilities, respecting diversity, protecting security and confidentiality and managing risk.

The optional units are chosen from two groups; A and B, with at least three units from group B. A list of optional units is available on request. Listed below is a sample:

  • Ensure your own actions reduce risks to health and safety
  • Organise business travel and accommodation
  • Procure Products and Services
  • Manage and evaluate customer relations
  • Develop productive relationships with colleagues

Where a course is aimed towards an assessment/examination, it is expected that all students will enter for the qualification

Method of Assessment

Assessment is by production of a personal portfolio of evidence demonstrating understanding and application of the NVQ 3 performance criteria.
