Enabled applied knowledge & skills to be demonstrated and accredited. SDL provided excellent service and and all documentation etc. Allowed two senior administrators to gain a qualification and prove what they do for the company and show that 'Admin drives the business'.
    SDL staff are efficient and know their job well. Always arrived to appointments and were clear in their intent from day one. Work based learning enables you to provide all types of evidence and not all has to go in the portfolio - references to areas of storage and also photos were taken too! Costs are very reasonable when you actually consider the registartion fees and then the specialised attention you get and regular visits etc.

Mandatory units: 1. Manage own Performance in a Business Environment, 2. Evaluate & Improve Performance, 3. Work in a Business Environment and 4. Communicate in a Business Environment. ( Total 13 credits) Optional units are from a choice of 65! ( 17 credits) for Certificate and (27 credits) for Diploma. There is incredible flexibility in this QCF qualification that will allow any candidate to match their job role. It is suitable for those working across a wide range of sectors. Suitable for: Please refer to course description for more details. There is no examination for this qualification. This qualification reflects the work of administration staff in a wide range of industries and organisation types. It is for those who are working with a high degree of autonomy and personalresponsibility. It is aimed at candidates who are actively involved in developing, implementing and maintaining administrative services for customers and clients.

About this course

No formal requirements but clear demonstration of work role at a senior level is required. Holding a level 2 in Business Adminstration could also be advantageous but not necessary. Progression to a Diploma is available and also to pursue other areas such as Customer Service and Management

What could be improved: Having to stop finding the evidence! Really got in the routine of looking critically at work to see what it really shows or does - so no bad points at all. Cannot find anything we liked least.

What I would highlight: We have had a large cohort of staff complete qualifications and have been very impressed with the SDL approach to NVQS - planning, delivery and also progression. Their approach is to be price-competitive yet add value wherever possible. In carrying out the Level 3 two staff were able to bring previous experience & training that was used to provide evidence the qualification & also planned the whole qualification by the duties undertaken. We have been very impressed with this 'whole' approach and they do not use the unit-by-unit method that we have experienced before with govt/college funded 16-24s. Proof that as we were paying for a service - we actually got one!!! Both staff also undertook an extra unit and to quote..." because they can!" Recommended and will change your views of working with a provider - they are independent and this is so valuable in many ways and are impartial.

This qualification is for those who carry out a variety of roles in the area of administration and also who have a responsibility and can make decisions with a certain amount of responsibility and autonomy. It is suitable for those in a senior role and those who may be in charge of others including trainees and volunteers. They must have a substantial amount of experience in delivering adminstration services and this can include: running projects, monitoring information systems, making presentations, using software, managing case files, planning & organising meetings and also supporting meetings and providing leadership etc.

A very flexible qualification that allows the candidate to select from a wide range of units to suit their role/experience. Also part of the Advanced Apprenticeship framework.
